"Vote 1 for Patrick Bedford as Alice Springs Mayor" Campaign Announcement
Alice Springs, Northern Territory: Patrick Bedford, Alice Springs local and Managing Director of Emu Run Experience, has announced the launch of his Alice Springs Mayor campaign. Mr Bedford has mentioned he is "excited and proud" to stand for the position of Mayor and councillor for Alice Springs Town Councilin the upcoming 2021 election
The campaign's goal is to communicate Patrick's passion and pride in the city he loves.
“My life as a family man, business leader and civic volunteer has prepared me to contribute to improving Alice Springs,” he said.
The campaign announcement has revealed the 5 challenges Patrick aims to address as Mayor. These are:
- Revive the CBD - Kids Playground with Splash Park / Attract New Business
- Build better relationships across all Governments - Partnerships not Politics
- Recycle Bins - Working for a Cleaner Sustainable Town
- Real leadership to deal with anti-social behaviour
- Improve parks to be more family friendly
The announcement has already received a positive response from the public. Merrilyn Spencer, Acting Finance Manager at Tourism Central Australia, said "(Patrick is) A man of action, and action is exactly what Alice Springs needs."
Alice Springs residents will have a range of options for both the position of Mayor and the eight Councillor positions when they head to the polls.
10 nominations have been lodged for Mayor, while 17 people will stand for Councillor. With the closure of nominations, Alice Springs Town Council have now entered caretaker mode. Early voting opens on Monday 16 August with residents able to cast their ballot in the Andy McNeill Room. Election Day will be on Saturday 28 August.
